VOLES:

APPEARANCE:

They are approximately 4”to 9” long including the tail. They will be a grey or brown colour.

CYCLE:

Voles will have approximately 5 to 10 litters per year with 3 to 6 young per litter.

HABIT AND BEHAVIOUR:

Voles dig burrows and nest in the ground leaving holes around your lawn.

NORTHERN POCKET GOPHER:

APPEARANCE:

They will typically be 6½” to 9” in size and can be dark brownish to a yellowish brown colour.

CYCLE:

They reproduce between March and June, producing a litter of 4 to 7 young.

HABIT AND BEHAVIOUR:

They are rarely above ground and are solitary except when they are breeding. They burrow into the soil, pushing the soil to the left and right creating a fan or kidney shaped mound. They then will push out the excavated material on the exit of the tunnel.

RICHARDSON GROUND SQUIRREL:

APPEARANCE:

They are approximately 30cm long and are yellowish tan in colour.

CYCLE:

Produce only one litter per year in the spring time with 5 to 8 young per litter.

HABIT AND BEHAVIOUR:

They spend time foraging for goods above ground during daylight hours and burrow into the ground often in clustered or loose colonies, leaving behind mounds of dirt.
