GERMAN COCKROACH:

APPEARANCE:

Adults are approximately 1/2” to 5/8” long. They range from light brown to tan in colour and have fully developed wings with 2 dark stripes on their pronotum.

CYCLE:

Females produces approximately 4 to 8 capsules per year containing 30-40 eggs. The females carry the capsule (ootheca) for approximately one month until they are ready to hatch.

HABIT AND BEHAVIOUR:

Most commonly found in kitchens and washrooms of both commercial and residential properties. They are predominately active at night feeding on a variety of human foods.

AMERICAN COCKROACH:

APPEARANCE:

Adults are approximately 1 3/8” to 2 1/8” long. They are reddish brown in colour and have fully developed wings covering their abdomen with a dirty yellow band around the edge of the pronotum.

CYCLE:

Females produce approximately 9 to 10 capsules during their lifetime containing 14 to 16 eggs.

HABIT AND BEHAVIOUR:

Both female and males can fly. The American Cockroach can be found in warm damp locations and they prefer to snack on fermenting foods.
