Lorrie’s Story

It is with great pride and admiration that JAPCO Pest Control is a proud sponsor of The Canadian Breast Cancer Society. This cause carries a special significance like so many that have been touched and affected as we fight for the end of Breast Cancer one day. We carry our torch for one of our own Lorrie Iati. Lorrie fought this disease for over twenty eight years and finally lost her third battle to Breast Cancer.

Lorrie Iati was a owner of a pest control company that opened its doors in Mississauga, Ontario in 1972. A.D.I. Pest Control serviced Metropolitan Toronto and area. At that time pest control was mostly a male dominated industry. With the help of family friend William Brennan the founder of PCO services, Lorrie partnered with his son in law Ernie Jupp. Years later the partnership with Mr. Jupp had ended and Tina Iati Patton and Lorrie Iati became business partners. In 1988 Tina sold their company to PCO Services Inc. known today as Orkin Canada. Although Lorrie was retired from pest control she could still be found helping the girls in the JAPCO Pest Control office in the busy summer months.

My mother fought a long and courageous battle to fight this disease. When she lost her third and final battle with breast cancer a close group of friends decided to participate in a run in her honour alongside with others that fight for the end of breast cancer one day. A t-shirt was constructed with the breast cancer ribbon and the words displayed in this ribbon were descriptive words describing Lorrie. JAPCO Pest Control sponsored this amazing group of individuals. Our team ran in The CIBC run for the cure breast cancer run.
